My Story

Welcome to Arts Entrepreneurs, a blog and podcast that explores how artists navigate their careers. I’m Philip Graulty, a musician, educator and cultural producer. In January 2014, I co-founded People’s Pop-Up, a mission-driven organization that brings craft, folk and traditional arts workshops into everyday spaces. As I figure out how to grow People’s Pop-Up into a sustainable business, I thought I’d document my journey and share what works (and what doesn’t) so you can learn alongside me.

Why Arts Entrepreneurs?

Although I’m a musician by trade, my truest passion in life is helping other artists succeed.

It occurred to me that most artists (myself included) face the same challenge: When it comes to our passions, it is easy for us to define what we do and why we do it, but difficult to grasp how to do it. I started Arts Entrepreneurs to change that.

This blog will be a goodie bag of business tips, tools and resources — all vetted through my own use and filtered through an arts and culture lens. The accompanying podcast will be a collection of stories and lessons from other artists-turned-entrepreneurs.

Simply put, my goal with Arts Entrepreneurs is to build a community around the business of art. If you’d like to join in, feel free to subscribe to my weekly newsletter.

Thank you so much and best wishes on your artistic endeavors!
